In the space of a few decades, Latin America has undergone a major demographic upheaval: mortality rates have fallen dramatically, fertility rates have been divided by three, and the population has entered a period of rapid aging. Taking the measure of this is essential. But we also need to identify the causes and look at how population policies are evolving.
