Portugal: when migrations redraw demographic dynamics

Since 2024-2025, for the first time since World War II, France has recorded more deaths than births, meaning that demographic growth now depends only on migratory influx. This has been the situation in Portugal since 2007. Its population has remained within the range 10.3 to 10.7 million with ups and downs due solely to migratory variations. We look at these and see how they they have reconfigured the geography of Portuguese territories.
